A SME Development Programme by The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka
and The Government of The Netherlands

Goal of the Project

• To create a sustainable SME Sector in the country with a significant contribution to the Gross Domestic Product. (GDP) & employment generation.
Objectives
• To increase the self reliance of Small & Medium Entrepreneurs
• To help SMEs to adjust to the changing market conditions and reduce their vulnerability to changes.
• To enhance competitiveness of SME products and services
• To create employment opportunities in the SME sector.

• Employment generation
• Increased production and productivity
• Export potential

Basic Principals following to implementation of the Project

The NCCSL follow basic operating principles in the implementation of the BPF programme. These principles include;

a.    Transparency and communication
b.    Co-ordinate and consultation with relevant stake holders
c.    Evaluate necessary intervention by using local difficulties
d.    Maximizing local and cluster economic capacities
e.    Respect for religion, culture, values and customs

Eligibility

Any local, Small & Medium Enterprise island-wide Priority Sectors

• Tsunami affected SMEs in the Hotel sector
• Small & Medium Entrepreneurs that are particularly those in the less developed regions.
• Women Entrepreneurs
Terms & Conditions for Provision of Financial Assistance
• At least 25% of the cost of the project should be borne by the applicant depending on the amount applied for
• The activities should commence within one month of the financial assistance
• Regular progress reports should be sent to the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka for a period of 2 years.
• Ownership of the machineries/ equipments purchased should not be transferred to a third party.

Application Procedure

Duly completed applications should be submitted to the Project Division of the National to the Chamber along with the following supporting documents

• A Project proposal
• Three quotations from three reputed suppliers
• A certified copy of the business registration

Application forms could be obtained from the Project Director, “Grow Your Business” ,NCCSL Business Promotion Fund,The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka,450,D R Wijewardena Mawatha , Colombo 10. Duly completed

applications should be submitted to the above address under registered cover. A panel of Officials from the National Chamber will be evaluating the applications and selecting the candidates to participate in this programme.

National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka was awarded a Prestigious Award
by the World Chamber Congress
award
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) was awarded a prestigious award by the World Chamber Congress at the sixth World Chamber Competition conducted recently in Malaysia. The Chamber has been selected for implementing the ”Most Successful Small Business Project” which led to develop the small business in the rural Sri Lanka.
 
51st Annual General Meeting of NCCSL
The Chamber held its 51st Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 9th February 2010 at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Galadari, Colombo. The business Session commenced at 5.00 p.m and was followed by the ceremonial sessions with Cocktails.
